Eastern State Penitentiary invites people who are blind, who have low vision, or who have sensory sensitivity needs to experience the historic site through a sensory-friendly touch tour.

These guide-led, small group tours begin at 9:00 am, before the historic site opens to the general public. The educator leading the tour will use elements of verbal description, guided touch, and sighted guide techniques during the tour. In addition, sensory backpacks will be made available, which contain noise-canceling headphones, sunglasses, a glitter jar, and other fidget toys.

This guided experience is 90 minutes long and concludes 30 minutes after the historic site opens to the public. Visitors are welcome to stay and continue their visit on their own. The historic site closes at 5:00 pm.

Advance registration required. Email [email protected] to reserve free tickets. Tour limited to 10 people. Click here to learn more about accessibility at Eastern State. Please contact [email protected] with specific questions or needs.

Can't make this one? An additional Guide-Led Sensory-Friendly Touch Tour will be offered on June 3!
