Experiences can be tailored to meet the needs of all grade levels — from elementary school classrooms through college level courses. Together, we can shape a transformative learning experience that connects past to present and encourages critical thinking about the pathways forward.
Guide-Led Tour & Discussion
This guided tour, led by one of our educators, explores Eastern State Penitentiary's complex history, its ongoing relevance to contemporary social issues, and sets the stage for conversation about justice and the role of prisons in society.

Self-Guided Audio Tour
Narrated by actor Steve Buscemi and featuring the voices of people who lived and worked at Eastern State Penitentiary, the audio tour takes you on a journey through the history and legacy of ESP. An mp3 player and headphones guide you through the penitentiary at your own pace.

NEW! School Group Workshops
Workshops are led by our engaging educators and include a 20-minute guided exploration of a space, followed by a 25-minute, hands-on, discussion-based activity. Your group is provided with a self-guided exploration handout, customized to the theme of your workshop.

Bus Scholarships
We offer scholarships to reimburse the cost of transportation (up to $400) for qualifying K-12 schools in the Philadelphia area. Scholarships are awarded on a first-come, first-served basis.
TO APPLY: Your school's group tour must already be scheduled before you apply for the Bus Scholarship. Applications must be received at least 2 weeks prior to the scheduled visit. Failure to submit the application in advance will result in disqualification.
