Saturday, June 20, 2026

6:00 - 9:00pm EST

It’s no secret that queer people have existed long before they were formally recognized. Eastern State invites visitors to explore powerful, but often overlooked, stories of the LGBTQ+ folks that served time at America’s most influential prisons, and to reflect on what those stories mean for our communities today. From mini-tours to pop-up talks, join us as we work to reclaim this site.

  • Speciality Tour: Take a self-guided Pride tour exploring overlooked LGBTQ+ histories and honoring resilience in the face of injustice.
  • Zine Making workshop: Zines have a long-standing history in queer activism as a tool for self-publishing and community building. Visitors’ are invited to reflect on their own identity and community through the creation of mini-zines.
  • Queer Trivia Night: Join us for trivia to test your knowledge about LGBTQ+ history and pop culture. Hosted by Philly's own Lili St. Queer, one half of Philly Mag's "Best Cabaret Act" Glitter and Garbage, and a contestant on season 4 of Camp Wannakiki.

About the Panelists:

We strive to make the penitentiary and our site, programs, and exhibits accessible to all visitors. Click here to learn more about accessibility and accommodations at ESPHS.
