All Day
In honor of Passover, explore the rich and often overlooked stories of Jewish prisoners and the community connected to Eastern State Penitentiary. This self-guided walking tour takes you through key locations within the grounds, including the first synagogue in an American prison, while highlighting personal narratives, cultural traditions, and the broader historical context of Jewish life in Philadelphia during the prison’s operation.
We strive to make the penitentiary and our site, programs, and exhibits accessible to all visitors. Click here to learn more about accessibility and accommodations at ESPHS.
