Members of The Danielle Rice Legacy Circle support the mission and protect the legacy of Eastern State Penitentiary Historic Site, Inc. (“Eastern State”) by making a gift in their will. By designating a future gift to Eastern State, you help ensure our shared vision – preserving and interpreting this landmark, engaging visitors, and deepening the national conversation about criminal justice – is passed on to future generations. You are eligible for membership in The Danielle Rice Legacy Circle simply by informing us you have included Eastern State in your estate planning. To do so, please contact Joel Kelly, Director of Major Gifts at [email protected] or (215) 236-5111 x218.
The Danielle Rice Legacy Circle honors the memory of a great friend of Eastern State who served as Chair of our Board of Directors from 2014 to 2019. Danielle is remembered nationally as a museum education visionary who built a unique cultural legacy for the Philadelphia region.
Danielle was an optimistic and enthusiastic advocate who guided Eastern State through a period of incredible growth, leading the charge for effective governance, strategic planning and our new mission. She also set a generous example when she made a gift to Eastern State in her will – one of the largest gifts we have ever received from an individual. To learn more about Danielle, please click here.
In honor of Danielle’s example and generosity, we are pleased to invite others to remember her and follow her example in this special way. Members will be recognized on-site and on our website, and receive periodic special updates and invitations. Making a bequest demonstrates your commitment to the future of Eastern State in a way that doesn't affect your current asset balance or cash flow. Supporting Eastern State through your will offers:
- Simplicity – Add a codicil or amendment to an already existing will.
- Flexibility – Change your gift if you wish to do so.
- Control – Retain control of your assets should you need them in the future.
We gratefully acknowledge the members of The Danielle Rice Legacy Circle for their commitment to the future of Eastern State.
