Submissions for our 2022 Dr. Martin Luther King Day event are now closed. We hope you'll join us in person or online Monday, January 17 from 1:30 to 3:30 pm.
Interested in being our community reader for Dr. Martin Luther King Day? Here’s how to apply.
- Read through the passage from “Letter from Birmingham Jail" linked here.
- Record your video submission. Start by briefly introducing yourself. Then, read the full passage aloud. When you’re finished, please share something about what this passage means to you or why you think it’s particularly significant. Here are some other things to keep in mind:
- Please shoot your video horizontally (in landscape mode).
- Make sure you are in a well-lit room, free of background noise.
- Don’t forget to look at the camera! You may need to look away to read but be sure to look up every now and then.
- You may only submit one video file. Please try to keep your video file under 10 GB.
- Submit your recording via this Google Form. If you don’t already have a Gmail address, you will need to create a free account to do so.
SUBMISSIONS ARE CLOSED.
The selected reader will receive an email or phone call from us by January 12, 2022. We will confirm your information for the purposes of the event and to ensure we can send you a $100 stipend for your time. If the recording you submitted via the Google Form above meets all our needs, we won’t need anything else from you. If it needs revisions, we may ask you to re-record all or part of your video in advance of the January 17 event.
