Live Entertainment Specialist

Job Summary

The position is responsible for casting, training, and event operations. They attend auditions and make casting suggestions, manage casting updates throughout the season for the Live Entertainment spaces, and provide support to Entertainment spaces during the Halloween Nights season. The role also includes supervising attraction managers, participating in staff training, monitoring nightly performance, ensuring safety, and addressing tech or operational issues. Post-season, they review performance, finalize notes, and ensure spaces are properly broken down for the season. This position requires leadership, flexibility, and a focus on delivering a top-notch experience for both staff and guests. 

This role will direct and support an environment of diversity and inclusion where staff of varying backgrounds can thrive, and assist other employees in the performance of their job duties as described below.   


Duties & Responsibilities

Responsibility Category 1: Casting & Training 

  • Attend auditions & relevant meetings  
  • Oversee casting for specialty performers and collaborate with casting managers to place performers in entertainment attractions (Bizarre Bar, Boogie Monsters, Bloodline, Speakeasy) 
  • Ensure all casting and staffing documents are up-to-date and accurate. 
  • Support the development and delivery of training programs for managers and staff, including in-season and specialty training. 

Responsibility Category 2: Supervision & Leadership  

  • Supervise managers of entertainment attractions, ensuring performance standards are met and staff are motivated. 
  • Provide regular feedback to managers and assist in the coordination of any necessary corrective actions. 
  • Approve timecards, manage schedules, and ensure proper staffing for nightly shows. 
  • Attend at least one pre or post-show meeting for each attraction every week to provide positive feedback and motivation   

Responsibility Category 3: In Season Operations  

  • Assist with the opening of shows and support operational needs throughout the night. 
  • Monitor performances, safety protocols, and guest interactions across all attractions. 
  • Provide coaching and feedback to staff to ensure high standards and resolve any operational issues. 
  • Walks through all attractions multiple times throughout the night and provide coaching/feedback if needed and keeps a close eye out for any safety issues  
  • Assists with crowd control if needed and respond to security issues 
  • Get into costume/makeup on select nights in order to work in the attractions and motivate staff 
  • Assist the greenroom management team to ensure pre- and post-show flow is smooth, and actors are doing what they should be and costumes/makeup when present in the greenroom. 
  • Ensure the cleanliness of entertainment spaces throughout the night 
  • Maintain a high level of customer service 

Responsibility Category 4: Collaboration & Communication 

  • Work closely with Entertainment Managers, Tech teams, and the Director to address any issues that arise during the season. 
  • Submit FMX reports at the end of each show night for any tech related issues/changes 
  • Contribute to the development of new ideas and improvements, particularly for special event weekends or seasonal remixes. 
  • Participate in nightly Manager Meetings 

Responsibility Category 5: Post-Season Responsibilities 

  • Participate in wrap-up meetings and provide evaluations of staff performance. 
  • Contribute to the awards process and ensure attractions are cleared and maintained at the season's end. 
  • Participate in nominations and presenting with Cast Party Awards 


Required Skills/Abilities 

  • Understanding of Live Entertainment attractions from a creative and production standpoint. 
  • Proven experience in casting, Entertainment Management, or a related field. 
  • Strong leadership skills with experience supervising teams and managing multiple projects. 
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams. 
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills 
  • Control of critical and sensitive information 
  • Self-motivated 
  • Attentive to detail 
  • Demonstrated supervisory and/or leadership skills. 
  • At least 5 years of supervisory and 2 years working at a large-scale event or relevant experience 
  • Other duties as assigned to foster an efficient flow of business. 
  • All duties to be conducted in accordance with Eastern State’s principles    


Physical Requirements 

  • Ability to sit for prolonged periods of time.  
  • Ability to walk all aspects of the 10 acre site each night for the duration of show.  
  • Must be comfortable working in dark, loud and theatrical spaces.  
  • Ability to work in space where temperatures may vary to cold and hot   
  • Ability to climb, stoop, crawl and maneuver in tight spaces can be required depending on the department.  
  • Ability to lift up to 10 pounds
