ASL Guide-Led Tour and Discussion
Included with admission, subject to availability. Purchase tickets online to secure your spot.*
An Eastern State educator leads a Guide-Led Tour and Discussion in partnership with an ASL (American Sign Language) interpreter from Hands UP Productions. This program includes both ASL and voice interpretation. Visitors from the D/deaf, hard of hearing, and hearing communities are welcome to attend.
Join one of our engaging educators for a small group tour that invites you to consider Eastern State Penitentiary’s history and how it relates to modern-day incarceration. Learn more about Eastern State’s time as an active prison while engaging in group dialogue about criminal justice reform from the founding of America to the present. Dig deeper with meaningful questions: How can we still see Eastern State’s influence in prisons across the country and around the world? In what ways did the penitentiary affect the people who lived and worked here? How can Eastern State’s history help us consider the impact of prisons today?
Due to limited capacity, the best way to secure your spot is to purchase timed tickets online in advance.* For more information about accessibility at Eastern State, visit www.EasternState.org/access.
*D/deaf and hard of hearing visitors who wish to utilize our accessible, discounted admission programs (e.g. ACCESS Card, Museums for All, etc.), which must be redeemed on site, may reserve space on an ASL Guide-Led Tour and Discussion by emailing [email protected] in advance of their visit.
