Eastern State invites members of Scouting America, Girl Scouts of the USA, and all youth to join us join us in person at Eastern State Penitentiary Historic Site (2027 Fairmount Avenue, Philadelphia) on Sunday, June 1, 2025 for In-Person Scout Day: Architecture!
Led by our engaging staff, all In-Person Scout Day participants will enjoy interactive discussions and activities. Members of Scouting America and Girl Scouts of the USA will also meet badge requirements.
Explore the 142-year history of the world’s first penitentiary. Consider what life was like for the 85,000 people who lived and worked inside its walls. Discover the influence of Eastern State’s unique architecture, copied by 300+ prisons worldwide. Reflect on the ethics of prison architecture. Discuss the challenges & rewards of preserving a National Historic Landmark. Learn about careers in the fields of architecture & historic preservation.
Tickets are sold in 30-minute entry windows with the first window starting at 10:30 am. Scout Day will conclude at 4:30 pm. The historic site closes at 5:00 pm.In-Person Scout Day runs rain or shine.
