Special FX Makeup Team

It takes an elite team of 18 makeup artists and hair stylists about three hours to prepare a cast of more than 200 performers each evening.

Applicants must be able to manage their time wisely. This is a fast-paced, fun environment, and the timing of the makeup crew is essential. Applicants must be proficient and possess skills in basic and intermediate special effects makeup. This includes knowledge of and hands-on experience with prosthetic application, Skin Illustrator, latex, gelatin and silicone appliances, and Pros Aide transfers. Makeup artists selected will have the opportunity to work with the best products available in a professional setting. Makeup artists are paid a day rate.

Note: No makeup experience is necessary for the hair stylist position, although you will receive some Special FX training. Please be sure to bring your hair portfolio.

2019 Special FX Makeup Team Interviews
All makeup artist / hair stylist interviews are held at Eastern State Penitentiary. You do not need to make an appointment.

Auditions and interviews run RAIN OR SHINE.

Please bring your resume, portfolio and Special FX Makeup Application completely filled out. Applicants without a portfolio will not be allowed to interview. Positions will open up periodically throughout the season; check back for availability.

2019 Costume Team Interviews

The costume team is made up of nine talented costumers who dress and aid the cast of 200 performers each evening. All costume team interviews are held at Eastern State Penitentiary. You do not need to make an appointment.

  • Wednesday, August 28, 6:00 - 7:00 pm

Applicants must be people-oriented problem solvers who can think on their feet. The costume team works collaboratively and interacts closely with the actors. They must be proficient sewing both by hand and with a machine, have basic painting, repairing, and fabricating skills, be able to lift at least 50 lbs., and have the ability to take initiative and work independently. Costumers are paid hourly.
