Dance Team Manager

Halloween Nights is now hiring a Dance Team Manager for the 2024 festival season! Responsibilities include...

  • Managing a Team & Displaying Leadership:
    • Act as the main point of contact for all employees on the dance team.
    • Participate in comprehensive Manager Training sessions from August 23-25 to refine leadership skills and become familiar with organizational protocols.
    • Delegate fitting tasks to the Assistant Department Manager (ADM) as necessary.
    • Prepare the ADM to competently step into the Department Manager (DM) role during periods of DM absence, providing comprehensive guidance and mentorship to facilitate a smooth transition.
  • Team Management & Administrative Oversight:
    • Attend some of the dance auditions and provide feedback about potential candidates.
    • Create and maintain employee schedules successfully and ensure all positions are filled each show night.
    • Review and approve employee time records and hours every night utilizing the Paycom platform, maintaining meticulous accuracy and adherence to established payroll protocols.
    • Monitor staff punctuality and adherence to designated arrival and departure times, promptly addressing any deviations from schedules.
    • Exercise sound judgment and adherence to company policies in handling disciplinary matters and providing constructive feedback to employees along with the Senior Manager of Live Entertainment, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
    • Contribute actively to staff training initiatives, leveraging expertise to facilitate professional development and enhance team competencies.
    • Maintain a vigilant managerial presence in the Green Room and staff spaces, overseeing operations to ensure compliance with safety regulations and organizational standards.
    • Prioritize staff well-being by ensuring provision of adequate breaks and fostering a supportive and inclusive work environment conducive to employee satisfaction and productivity.
  • Operations Support:
    • Collaborate closely with the Titan Manager to optimize staffing allocations and address any staffing deficiencies, ensuring seamless event execution.
    • Maintain open channels of communication with staff through pre and post-show meetings, as well as regular email or text correspondence, facilitating alignment and transparency.
    • Uphold stringent safety protocols and meticulously ensure the proper securing of locked spaces before public access, mitigating potential risks and liabilities.
    • Raise concerns and provide feedback to the General Manager and Senior Team during nightly manager meetings.
  • End of Season Responsibilities:
    • Clean, organize and inventory all equipment, costumes, props and all other items related to the event for storage for the next year
    • Provide a performance summary for each employee to be kept on file for future reference
    • Attends wrap-up meeting and provide organized and constructive feedback
  • General Responsibilities:
    • Assist in training new staff and serve as a role model for all staff members.
    • Uphold the organization's anti-discrimination and anti-harassment policies.
    • Maintain a high level of personal sensitivity related to diverse teams of various identities.
    • Ensure adherence to "Leave No Trace Standards" on the historic site.


Required Skills/Abilities:

  • High level of personal sensitivity related to others related to diverse teams of various identities including but not limited to: age, race, sexual orientation, religion, national origin, etc.
  • Uphold the organization's anti-discrimination and anti-harassment (sexual and otherwise) policies
  • Proven record of reliability
  • 3 yrs of Experience with Dance Education & Training
  • 3 yrs of Experience with learning choreography
  • 3 yrs of Experience coaching dancers and offering critiques and adjustments
  • Ability to function well in a high-paced and stressful environment
  • Weekend work, evening work, and holiday work are required
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and maintain a commitment to excellent customer service
  • Show a commitment to ESPHS and a willingness to support and participate in all aspects of the organization
  • Ability to lead, supervise, and motivate a team of employees
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines


Physical Requirements:

  • The Dance Team requires the ability to be on your feet, entertaining guests and dancing for prolonged periods of time.
  • Halloween Nights is a rain or shine event, and this position operates predominantly outdoors.
  • Must be comfortable working in a dark, loud and theatrical spaces
  • Ability to stand for prolonged periods of time.
  • Ability to walk all aspects of the 10 acre site each night for the duration of show.
  • Must be comfortable working in dark, loud and theatrical spaces.
  • Ability to work in space where temperatures may vary to cold and hot
  • Ability to climb, stoop, crawl and maneuver in tight spaces can be required depending on the department
  • Ability to lift up to 10 pounds
