Eastern State Penitentiary to Close to the Public October 28 for Justice Votes 2020 Town Hall
Eastern State Penitentiary Historic Site will serve as the location for a first-of-its-kind town hall on Monday, October 28. A group of leaders who were incarcerated, their families, and others impacted by the criminal justice system will host and attend a town hall with 2020 Democratic presidential candidates at Eastern State.
The penitentiary will be closed to the public on October 28 to accommodate this historic event. Eastern State will reopen and resume normal daytime tour operations on October 29.
The Justice Votes 2020 Town Hall, developed by Voters Organized to Educate and presented by The Marshall Project, will give voice to those impacted by incarceration. A pre-selected audience comprised of formerly incarcerated people and others affected by the criminal justice system will engage the candidates in discussion about the future of criminal justice reform. The town hall will be livestreamed online by NowThis News.
